Chateau d’Arche Sauternes Grand Cru Classe 2009

from $48.00

Chateau d’Arche Sauternes Grand Cru Classe 2009, Bordeaux, France (375mL)

The Château d'Arche has one of the finest terroirs in Sauternes, and is classified as a Second Growth. It is located on a hill above the village of Sauternes on gravel and limestone-clay soil that is ideal for ripening and the development of botrytis.

90% Semillon and 10% Sauvignon Blanc, from vines that average 45 year old. The grapes are hand harvested through three passes, and yield a tiny 20 hl/ha. The wine ferments in stainless steel tanks and then ages for 12 to 18 months in 50% new oak barrels, 50% one year old barrels.

The nose reveals notes of orange peel and candied fruits. The mouth is fruity and airy. Powerful, mineral, this vintage presents a beautiful concentration and a nice balance. In the mouth, it expresses notes of honey, candied orange and quince associated with a touch of almond. The finish has a nice length with toasted notes.

Wine orders are currently only available for pick up at our Johnsonburg, NJ location. Please select ‘pick up’ at checkout. Thank you!
